Ardea Castle, County Kerry
Ardea (pronounced Ardee) Castle was the castle of the Tainiste of the O'Sullivan Bere Clan. The photo below depicts the view from the castle, looking across the Kenmare River to County Kerry and Dunkerron Castle. As one can see there is little left of the castle. What Cromwell didn't destroy has been sliding into the river, possibly caused by the filling in of some of the river below. The site is very hazardous. The ruins are barely noticable from the tennis court at the Kenmare Holiday Homes development.
