Castle Saunderson has been an imposing feature on the local landscape since the 17th Century, although the present castle dates from around 1840. The large grounds contain a lake and woodland areas of beech, pine and sitka spruce. A visitor can spend a very pleasant afternoon exploring the grounds. One feature of the demesne is a small gothic church and private graveyard with carved headstones commemorating the various generations of the Saunderson family.
